A devoted Christian man, he was a lifelong member of Zion Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and the director of the brotherhood. Henry was a devoted family man, a man of his word, and a hard worker. He was actively involved in the lives of his children, and was a well-known supporter of the Colleton County High School "Band of Blue"...even traveling with them to New York in 2000 for the Macy's Day Parade. Surviving, in addition to his wife of 51 years are two sons, James Benjamin Ross of Cottageville, and Adam Joshua Ross of Walterboro. There are three daughters: Henri Ross Schroder of Chicago, and Joyce Catterton (Pat) and Rosemary Ross of Walterboro. Henry has one brother, William Ross (Mary) of Walterboro, and one sister, Jennie Avant (Jim) of Fair Hope, AL. There are nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He leaves behind a granddaughter that he raised as a daughter, April Ross, and her daughter...his special great-granddaughter Savannah. He was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Ross. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday in the Zion Baptist Church, with burial following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6 - 8 PM at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, and in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Baptist Church.
