Irene Barbara Jackson Richardson MT. PLEASANT - Irene Barbara Richardson, 95, passed away on Tuesday, 22 November 2022, in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. She was born on 27 April 1927 in Waycross, Georgia, to Oscar and Lily Mae Jones Manor. She and her family later moved to Charleston, South Carolina, where she attended Four Mile Elementary School and Burke High School. After her schooling, she pursued her dream of becoming a licensed cosmetologist and opened her own salon (Barbara's Salon of Beauty) located in downtown Charleston. She was also a member of several beauty organizations including the South Carolina State Cosmetologist Association (SCSCA), the National Beauty Culturist League (NBCL), Theta Nu Sigma National Sorority (Upsilon Chapter), and the Modern Stylettes Club. In 1944, she married Carl Jerome Jackson, and of this union, two children were born. After the death of Mr. Jackson in 1979, she married George Richardson in 2005, to whom she remained married to until his death in 2017. Barbara was predeceased by her parents; one brother, Lee Spencer Manor; three sisters, Inez Manor, Catherine Briggs and Rita Habeeb-Ullah Muhammad; her husbands; and one granddaughter, Jacquetta Shinique Jackson. Barbara leaves to cherish her loving memories, daughter, Sytheria Violet Rollins; son, Carl Jerome Jackson, II; granddaughter, Kandi Wainwright Marsh (Gregory); grandsons, Ryan Maurice Jackson and Carl Jerome Jackson, III; 10 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
