I first heard Miss Emily speak in an interview when we moved to Charleston almost two years ago. Her love and generosity were genuine and grounded in God's love for us. I continue to talk about her with family, friends, and new aquaintances. Her beautiful legacy lives on.

I have been blessed to have been welcomed into the home and hearts of Emily Meggett and her family since I was in high school. My condolences to the family, but you have been blessed with a lifetime of memories of this awesome loving, giving and unselfish woman. "And now abide faith, hope, love, these three: but the greatest of these is love. May God's peace be with her devoted and loving family.

I was privileged to know Ms Emily and to paint several paintings of her. She always fed me when I came to visit her. Her cats, too, were the subject matter for my art as well. It was an honor to know her and to be a guest in home. She was truly one of a kind. An amazing woman who´s last year of life was filled with glory that will be her legacy.

My Condolences to the Meggett family. I had missed her book signing and was hoping to meet her when I visited in October from Ga. While I have never met her, my heart goes out to all her loved ones and a reminder how precious life is. But even though God has called her home, the family has a rich history of memories that are priceless and will be able to pass it down from generation to generation. May your strength come from knowing she was loved and will be remembered for sharing of herself to others.

I was so fortunate to have had several opportunities to visit with Miss Emily at my Edisto church, First Missionary Baptist.
Miss Emily was well known for her character and personality by just about everyone in the Edisto community. Fortunately, many others throughout our country came to know her through the extensive publicity that came with the publishing of her nation-wide best selling cookbook.
As Rev. Chick Morrison told us, "Emily has become famous, but she's still the same Emily we've always loved and admired."
God bless Miss Emily's precious soul..
Amen,
