Emily Grainger Obituary

GRAINGER, Emily Emily Ball Grainger, 88, a longtime resident of Westminster-Canterbury in Richmond, Va., wife of the late Rev. John Cameron Grainger, last of Petersburg, Va., originally from Wilmington, N.C., and then later various parishes including Baltimore, Md., passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2005. Emily, born in Charleston, S.C., was the daughter of the late Alexander Kelsall Ball and the late Emily Heyward Clarkson Ball, both of South Carolina and was preceded in death by two brothers, Isaac Rhett Ball of Camden, S.C., and Nathaniel Heyward Ball. She is survived by three sons, John Cameron Grainger, Jr., of Richmond, Va., Charles Alexander Grainger of Goode, Va., and Heyward Ball Grainger of Garner, N.C., and their families, including five grandchildren, two brothers, Alexander K. Ball, Jr., of Charleston, S.C., and Garden C. Ball of Mobile, Ala., and their families; and many other loving family members, friends, and longtime caregivers. A private graveside service will be held at Oakdale Cemetery in Wilmington, N.C., at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Richmond Chapter, 4600 Cox Road, Suite 130, Glen Allen, Va. 23060. BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, Glen Allen, Va.
