SMITH, Emaline WALTERBORO - Mrs. Emaline Murdaugh Smith, 65, of Walterboro, died Monday evening, January 5, 2009, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. Funeral services will be conducted 2 o'clock, Thursday afternoon, January 8, 2009, from North Walterboro Baptist Church, 2177 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Williams Cemetery, Williams. Mrs. Smith was born June 21, 1943, in Williams, and was a daughter of the late Edward Carroll Murdaugh and the late Charity Robertson Murdaugh. She was an active member of North Walterboro Baptist Church and will be remembered for her love of sewing and caring for her beloved dogs. Surviving are: three sons, Curtis E. Smith, Thomas W. Smith and his wife Cathy, and Billy Ray Smith and his wife Lisa all of Walterboro; two brothers, Edward Carroll Murdaugh and Marion Kenneth Murdaugh both of Walterboro; and four sisters, Marie Herndon, Elizabeth Valentine, and Rebecca Thompson all of Walterboro and Vivian Kinard of Ruffin. There are six grandchildren, Sandra Nichole Smith, Thomas Wayne Smith, Jr., Clinton Robert Benton, Lindsay Thomas Benton, Dustin Ray Smith, and Hannah Alise Smith that also survive. Flowers will be accepted, or for those that wish, a memorial fund has been established at Enterprise Bank of South Carolina in Walterboro for the family.
