Mary, Allison, Mathew, Anne, JoAnne,& Judy, I was sorry to hear of Elmers passing. I have known Elmer for close to 50 years and respected and love him as a classmate, teammate and friend. Elmer was a wonderful person and like many people say the acorn did not fall to far from the tree, because he was a wonderful man just like Elmer, Sr. I have not seen Elmer for years, since I have moved to Richmond, but please know that you and your wonderful are in my prayers.

To the Smith Family and to Elmer's Dentistry Family.

My husband and I went to school with Elmer at St. John's High School although he was an underclassman. We were big seniors at the time. He has always been a wonderful person and great friend. I was introduced to Elmer as a dentist right after he opened his practice. He has been my dentist since then except for the years we spent in Texas. As soon as we returned to Charleston, I called his office and he's been there for me anytime I needed him. He will be missed by everyone whose life he touched. His memory will live with all of us...Our prayers are with you all. God bless You all

Dear Mary, Matthew and Allison,

I was so sorry to hear of your loss. Elmer was a fine, gentle, and intelligent man, (and great dentist). Stephen and I met him through Buddy and Margaret and became patients and friends. he always asked about our lives and was always attentive.

If I can ever do for you, please let me know...I lost my Stephen in August from same illness. I so understand and will keep you in my prayers.

Dr. Smith has been my doctor for 15+ years. He is our family dentist, my parents, aunts & uncles & my children were all patients. He was one of the kindest & most thoughtful people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He always made time and remembered to ask everything about us and what was going on in our lives. I am so very sorry for your loss. Please remember that you are in my prayers and in all of my families hearts and prayers. Love Jessica, McKayla, McKenzie & Christian Carroll

To the Smith family:
I have had the pleasure and honor to know Elmer, both as a patient and friend for almost 25 years. He was a model dentist for the medical profession as he took a real interest in his patients condition and family life. He was always available for emergencies. He had a wonderful sense of humor.
God has a real jewel in heaven right now with Elmer there. I will always remember him and be thankful for the opportunity to know such a wonderful and kind human being. Elmer, I will surely miss you friend!

To Mary and your family, I too am so saddened by the passing of Elmer. He truly was the greatest dentist in the world. His stories and gentleness were so wonderful. Many times we had conversations about the future and the struggle to achieve and help others. When I earned my law degree he made me feel so proud and he genuinely was proud of me. I can't tell you how great that made me feel. There will never be another like him but I would like to think that I will follow in his kindness, giving and happiness to others. Your children should be so proud of their dad and know that he was so well thought of. If there is anything I can do for you, please don't hesitate to contact me. I am so glad you guys got to Vegas - Love Lucreita

Mary, Allison, and Matthew,
It is with a heavy heart that I write this. Elmer was one of those gentle souls you rarely meet in life. He loved everyone and treated them like they were the most important person he knew. Mary, he loved you, Allison, and Matthew so much, and his face would light up when he talked of you (which he loved to do). The only thing that lifts my heart is to know we will be with him again. I look forward to hearing his fishing stories.

We are so sad to hear of Elmer passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of grief. He was a great man and a wonderful dentist. You could go in that chair sad or worried about something in life and come out laughing and thinking what a great day. He would brighten the room when he would come in with his jokes and stories. He was a wonderful person. We will all miss him.

Dear Smith family,
I just wanted to express my sincere feeling of loss at the passing of Elmer. I worked with Joanne at St. Francis and have been going to Elmer for quite a lot of years now. A lot of us from St. Francis went to him and we all loved him dearly. He was a gentle & kind man and dentist. My husband started going to him after we married, and he truly enjoyed going to see Elmer. I'm sorry I didn't make it to the service, I just got out of the hopistal recently with back surgery, but you all are in our thoughts and prayers. We will never forget what a great man Elmer was. You all should be very proud of him. God Bless, Eric & Debbie Wheaton.

To Mary, Allison and Matthew.....
Just found out today about the sad news of Elmer's passing on last Friday. Bet he is dancing with the angels with smile on his face and a chuckle in his voice. Remember there are so many that are thinking of you and your family at this very sad time. My fondest memory of Elmer is those days when he drove the school bus for St. John's High School. And this one is from Banyon, "Semper Fi, Marine".........once a Marine, always a Marine.

To the Family of Dr. Smith,
I wanted to first let you know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all! We love you and our praying for the peace that passes all understanding! Dr. Smith is the type of example that a father, husband, son, brother, and friend should be. He is one of the most caring and humble men I have ever met. I am so honored to have been his friend, I am so honored that GOD loves us so much that he allowed all of our paths to cross his, so that even for a moment we may have had the opportunity to be in his presence. I will miss him more than you will all know, but I know that he loved life, people, his family and friends! I intend to do just that. Thank you Dr. Smith for being my friend and always showing us by example the type of person we all should be. Mary, Ms. Smith, Matthew, Allison, Joanne, and Judy, my heart aches for you all, and I pray for you constantly. WE LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH, and I am so thankful that I was blessed by DR. Smith and the person he will always be!!!!!!!! May GOD continue to Bless You!!!Love Christy & Troy Johnson
