Ellenor Renee Bullock McDonald Mt. Pleasant - Ellenor Renee Bullock McDonald, 90, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of Dr. John Kennely "Ken" McDonald, entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 29, 2022. Her memorial service will be held in the near future with arrangements made by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel. Ellenor was born December 22, 1931 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and is preceded in death by her parents, William Bullock and Jessie Stanners Bullock and her brother, William Frederick Bullock (Peggy Martin). Ellenor graduated from King Edward High School and Pitman Business College, both in Vancouver, British Columbia. Throughout her life, she was a supportive and loving wife and mother. During the early years of their marriage, she held various positions to support Ken while he pursued his education. While he attended Purdue University, she worked with the Purdue Power Plant Planning and Engineering Department. While in Corvallis, Oregon, Ellenor worked in administration for the 4-H club of Oregon State. After moving to northern California, she was an office manager for a real estate firm in Sunnyvale while staying active in her children's schools, advocating for education as PTA president at the local, regional, and state levels. In 1974, the family moved from Sunnyvale, California to Charleston, South Carolina. She was employed by the oral surgery practice of Drs. Lon Doles and Mike Zetz, as well as Attaway-Thompson and Associates. For a few years after retirement, they lived in Spartanburg, SC at Summit Hills before returning to Mt Pleasant, SC, where they lived at Franke at Seaside retirement community for nearly 20 years. Franke became their new home community where they made many friends. Ellenor cherished spending time with her family. One of her favorite holiday traditions, which was started by her parents, who owned a framing shop, was to have Chinese food for dinner on Christmas Eve because most other restaurants were closed. It is a tradition the entire family still enjoys. She was an avid reader, enjoyed her afternoon tea and cookies, loved watching birds, and was an amazing cook. For several years, Ellenor and Ken enjoyed escaping each summer to their cottage on Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada. She is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years, Dr. J. Kennely McDonald of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, Dr. Alexander K. McDonald (Lorie) of Moore, SC, and Dr. John W. McDonald (Melanie) of Mt. Pleasant; son-in-law, Dr. Gregg Thomas Hanold of Charleston; 9 grandchildren, David Hanold, Laura Hanold, Andrew McClain Hanold (Melissa), William McDonald, Michael McDonald, Riley McDonald, John McDonald (Jasmyn), James McDonald, and Matthew McDonald; and great-granddaughter, Harper McDonald. She was recently preceded in death by her daughter, Kathryn Elizabeth Hanold. Ellenor's family wants to thank the entire staff of the Roper Hospice Cottage for their expert care, family support, and exceptional empathy during this difficult time. Memorials may be made to the
