Ellen Powell Obituary

POWELL, E. Roberta Ellen Roberta Orvin Powell, 72, of St. Stephen, SC, a retired accountant for Powell's Foodland, died Sunday morning in a Charleston hospital. The funeral will be 2:00 PM Wednesday afternoon, September 24, 2008, in the CHAPEL OF DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday evening. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Road, Suite 504, North Charleston, SC 29406. Mrs. Powell was born August 6, 1936, in St. Stephen, SC, a daughter of Bertie Ray Orvin and Lula Jackson Orvin. She enjoyed flower gardening. Surviving are her husband, W. Stewart Powell, Jr.; three sons, Kelly Wadford, Jr. and James David Wadford both of St. Stephen and Bertie Ray Wadford of Wilmington, NC; a step-son W. Stewart Powell, III, of Goose Creek; two step-daughters, Catherine Powell Doty of Denver, CO, and Elizabeth Powell Bryant of Goose Creek; two sisters, Mary Driggers and Kate Brown, both of Macedonia; a brother, David Smith of Mary Ester, FL; two grandchildren, James Kevin Wadford and Isabella Wadford; and two great grandchildren.
