Elizabeth Schraibman Obituary

Elizabeth "Carleen" Bunch Schraibman Mt. Pleasant - Elizabeth "Carleen" Bunch Schraibman - Local Piano Teacher Elizabeth "Carleen" Schraibman, 80, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, fell asleep in death in the early morning hours of Thursday, April 21, 2022. Carleen was born March 8, 1942 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Edison Carl Bunch and Elizabeth Watkins "Tiny" Bunch. She graduated from Rivers High School and attended the University of South Carolina. She moved with her family to the Groves neighborhood of Mt. Pleasant in the early 1970s. A talented musician, Carleen was a beloved piano teacher to many students in Mt. Pleasant, where she taught for over 35 years. She also provided musical entertainment at several local venues, and was particularly well known for her Friday night happy hour piano solos at the Palms of Mt. Pleasant. Carleen was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on September 26, 1970. She was a faithful member of the East Mt. Pleasant Congregation, where she had many life-long friends. She shared her strong faith over the years with many others in the community. Carleen and her late husband, Albert, moved to the Fox Pond neighborhood of Mt. Pleasant in the late 1980s, where Carleen enjoyed many long walks to the Pitt Street Bridge and the Old Village. They both enjoyed their grandchildren and vacationing in the Hendersonville, North Carolina area. Carleen will be sorely missed by her family and friends for her steadfast friendship, love of poetry, determination, sharp wit, intelligence, caretaking of neighborhood cats, patience with beginning piano students, dependability, prompt thank you notes, and strong faith. She is survived by her daughter Melissa Schraibman Grinberg (Rachel) of Chevy Chase, MD; brother Karl Bunch (Charlene) of Charleston; sister Micki Ackerman of Goose Creek; three grandchildren: Levi Fox Michels, Bella Elizabeth Grinberg, and Isaac Edison Grinberg; and many spiritual sisters and brothers who shared her faith. Funeral Arrangements will be handled by J. Henry Stuhr funeral home. The memorial service will be Sunday, May 1, at 4 p.m. via Zoom. Please call 843-607-0839 for details. She was our piano teacher, such a wonderful lady. She and Albert were the best neighbors, I `m so glad they are together again on the other side.

We would work at the conventions together. I always looked for her. Her memory will always be a delight. I look forward to seeing her again in the new world.
