Elizabeth Rowell Obituary

Elizabeth Gibson Rowell HAMPTON, SC - Elizabeth Gibson Rowell passed away at age 95 on April 28, 2022, at her home in Hampton. Known to family and friends as Lib, she was the widow of Ellis Ray Rowell and the daughter of Ezbert Jefferson Gibson, Sr. and Estelle Smoak Gibson. She was born in Barnwell County on March 27, 1927. She was predeceased by her daughter, Belinda Rowell, and fourteen brothers and sisters. Survivors include her children, Susan Rowell and her husband, Billy Armstrong, Steven Rowell and his wife, Rochelle Routman, and Carmen Horton and her husband, Bob; grandchildren Andy Horton, Jennifer Mehram, and Katherine Horton; great-granddaughter, Sabine Whitley; brother, Lynn Gibson and wife, Norma; step-grandchildren, Cary A. Dennis, Beth A. Shikano, and Erin A. Parker; step-greatgrandchildren - Marty, Allie, William, and Jack; and many beloved nieces and nephews. A graveside interment service will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Willow Swamp Baptist Church in Norway, South Carolina. The family will receive visitors in the church social hall after the service. Memorials to the Hampton County Animal Shelter are suggested for those who wish to make a donation in her name.
