Elizabeth Lupton Obituary

Elizabeth D. "Betsy" Lupton CHARLESTON - Elizabeth D. "Betsy" Lupton, 55, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed into Heaven's gates Friday, July 17, 2015. Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2015, in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL at 4:00 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service. Betsy was born January 31, 1960 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late B. Waldo Lupton, Jr. and the late Dorothy Vendrick Lupton. She graduated from Fort Johnson High School in 1978 and received a business degree in accounting from Trident Technical College in 1982. Betsy, along with her sister, was a mainstay in her father's business, Schroder-Lupton accounting firm in downtown Charleston from 1982 until 2002. In 2002, she started her own firm, Lupton's Bookkeeping and Tax Service, providing accounting services to her clients until 2012. Known for her kind heart and delightful sense of humor, Betsy loved her family and friends, was an avid fisherwoman, loved her flowers, bluebirds, and her faithful cat, BeBop. She is survived by two sisters, Susanne Lemke (Wray) of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Debbie Conrad (Art) of Charleston, SC; niece, Corey Ripley (Rip) of Sumter, SC; two nephews, Casey Conrad of Charleston, SC, and Jay Willingham of Atlanta, GA; and her beloved grandnephew, Jack Ripley of Sumter, SC. She was preceded in death by her brother, B. W. "Benny" Lupton, III. Our family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers of Harvest Health and Rehab Nursing Home, Roper Hospital and Heartland Hospice, and we are grateful to the many friends and family who have shared our journey and supported us with their love and prayers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Betsy's favorite charity: Pet Helpers, 1430 Folly Rd., Charleston, SC 29412. Visit our guestbook at www.legacy.com/obituaries/ charleston

Betsy and I were friends about 44 years ago. She was a good friend and we had lots of fun together. I'm so glad to hear she loved God and knew Jesus as her Savior! Rest well my friend. I pray comfort and peace to her family and friends.

Growing up across the street from Betsy, we were one of the other original families to live on the Waterloo side of Stiles Point. Though I haven't seen them (or her) in years I still remember from the earliest photo albums - images of cowboy or Barbie doll birthday cakes, Betsey alwiays in attendance. Fresh and sun kissed In our little summer outfits. Holding up plastic spoonfuls of blue icing for the camera. Together, we kept a watchful eye over the duck eggs we'd discovered in the talI grass at the edge of the lake. Gauzy chilhood memories from another time. Good night Betsy. Sleep well.

How sad to hear the news of Betsy's passing. She was a dear friend in high school and we spent many afternoons together. She loved Jimi Hendrix and Fleetwood Mac! We would lie on the living room floor listening to the albums and singing. She always told me I couldn't carry a tune. I loved my "Betsy Girl". I know that she is in Heaven with Waldo and Dot. May the choir of angels come to greet you and speed you to paradise. Mary Drawdy Garcia

I went to high school with Betsy. She was a kind person. We haven't spoke since high school, but I never forgot her. Peace and love, Sharon

Oh my, how I loved this lady! Always a bright spot in our Bible Studies. Betsy never failed to make us laugh. What I know for sure is her love for God. Humble and sweet beyond words. Today she is making Jesus laugh, I'm sure. Prayers to all of her friends and family that will miss her. Comfort in knowing she is free to be all God made her to be. Bringing joy to all those in Heaven with her.
