Elizabeth Foraker Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Foraker, age 81, of New Castle, Del., died on Friday, Dec. 18, 2009. She was the wife of the late William J. Foraker, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage. She was born in Wilmington, Del., on Oct. 30, 1928, the second of four children, to the late Mary and Augustine Calfo. She retired after 30 years working for Delmarva Power and Light Company. After retirement, she worked several years as a volunteer on the Junior Board at St. Francis Hospital. She also was an honorary member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1238.Betty is survived by her son, William J. Foraker Jr., and his wife Beth Fauber of Terre Haute; their son, Betty's Grandson, William C. F. Foraker; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Louise Calfo and Theresa Miller; and her brother, Augie Calfo. Friends and relatives are invited to attend Betty's funeral service at 1 p.m. today, at the Beeson Funeral Home of Newark, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, Del. Family will begin to receive guests at noon. Interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery in Chesapeake City, Md. Betty asked that, in lieu of contributions or flowers, her friends do her the honor of offering a toast of "Goodbye Old Girl."
