Elizabeth Fenner Obituary

Elizabeth Susan Fenner SPARTANBURG, SC - Elizabeth Susan Ratliff Fenner (Beth), 72, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, passed away in her home on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, after a hard-fought battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She was born on March 2, 1953, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to Walter C. Ratliff and Ann D. Ratliff. She is survived by her mother, Ann, her husband of fifty years, Ronslow Pride Fenner, Jr., and by her two older brothers, John Ratliff of Spartanburg, SC, and Rocky Ratliff of Rock Hill, SC. She is also survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Fenner of Spartanburg, SC, and by her son, Christopher Andrew Fenner of Lawrenceville, GA. Christopher and his wife, Julia, have one son, Liam River Fukuda Fenner. Beth spent the majority of her life in her hometown of Spartanburg. She attended Pine Street Elementary School, Evans Junior High School and Spartanburg High School. Beth then went on to complete a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education at Columbia College in Columbia, SC, and would go on to dedicate more than 30 years of her life to educating young children in Charleston and Spartanburg, SC. While teaching in Spartanburg, Beth was a beloved fixture of the Early Childhood learning center at Mary H. Wright Elementary and continues to be fondly remembered by many former teachers and students. After retiring from teaching, Beth went on to devote the remainder of her life to selflessly caring for her mother, Ann, whom she loved deeply. Beth's life was a life of devoted service - to her parents, to her husband, to her children, to curious little minds and to anyone in need. If you were touched in any way by Beth's life, please consider attending the Funeral Service which will take place on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 11 AM at St. Paul United Methodist Church, (1320 Fernwood Glendale Rd.), to be followed by procession to Greenlawn Memorial Gardens and a short service at graveside.
