Elizabeth Crowther Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Marshall Crowther CLEMSON, SC - Elizabeth "Betty" Marshall Crowther of Clemson Downs died December 21, 2012. She was born October 12, 1915, in Greenwood, SC the eldest daughter of Professor John Logan Marshall and Lela Grace Marshall. Betty grew up in Clemson, SC and was valedictorian of her high school class. She attended Coker College on an academic scholarship and graduated in 1936 with honors with a double Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Biology. She was preceded in death by her siblings, John Logan Marshall, Jr. and Della Jo Marshall Hass. She was widowed in 2002 with the death of her husband of 63 years, Pat H. Crowther. They resided the majority of their lives in Anderson, SC until their move to Clemson Downs in 2001. She and her husband were members of Central Presbyterian Church in Anderson. Surviving are her two sons Carroll L. Crowther (Nancy) of Beaufort, SC and John Patrick Crowther (Teddee) of Clemson; four grandsons, Patrick Logan Crowther (Beaufort, SC), William Carroll Crowther (Charleston, SC), Dr. Marshall Crowther (Birmingham, AL) and Lee Patrick Crowther (Greenville, SC); and four great-grandchildren. The Graveside services are planned for Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Old Silver Brook Cemetery with Reverend David Bailey officiating. The family will gather for a time of visitation following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Tamassee DAR School in Salem, SC or to a scholarship fund of one's choice.
