Elizabeth Blanton Obituary

Elizabeth Kronberg Blanton N. CHARLESTON - Elizabeth Kronberg Blanton, 87, of North Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Edward P. Blanton, Jr., died on Saturday, October 14, 2023. Her funeral service will be held at the graveside on Saturday, October 21, 2023, in Riverview Memorial Park, 3715 Azalea Drive, at 2:00 pm. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel. Elizabeth was born May 16, 1936 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Nathan Kronberg and Mary Friedman Kronberg. She was a graduate of the University of South Carolina (USC) with a BA degree, with a specialty in Piano, (Magna Cum Laude) and a member of Phi Beta Kappa; a graduate of USC with a degree of Master of Music. She is a former schoolteacher, former lecturer in music at the University of South Carolina-Aiken, and a retired piano teacher. She is a former president of the Aiken Music Teachers Association. Elizabeth enjoyed classical music and opera and traveled internationally later in life to Austria, Italy, Croatia, Switzerland, and England. She was a regular attendee of the Spoleto Festival USA for over 40 years. She is survived by her sons, Stephen R. Blanton of North Charleston and Mark E. Blanton of Seattle WA; sisters-in-law, Ann B. Mixson of Charleston and Mary B. and her husband, Melvin Seyle of North Charleston; brother-in-law, Eugene W. and his wife, Lynn L. Blanton of Mt. Pleasant; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by her beloved cat, Sheba and her granddogs, Niko and Mozart. In addition to her husband and parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Edward P. and Helen G. Blanton; her brother-in-law, Robert D. and his wife Joyce H. Blanton; and her brother-in-law, Freddie Mixson. Memorial donations may be made in Elizabeth's memory to the University of South Carolina School of Music or to the charity of your choice.
