Elizabeth Altman Obituary

ALTMAN, Elizabeth HAMPTON - Mrs. Elizabeth "Betty" Smith Bowers Altman, 85, of Jackson Avenue in Hampton died Saturday, December 10, 2008 in the Hampton Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. Born June 20, 1923 in Hampton County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Hattie Smith. Mrs. Altman loved to spend time with her family and she also enjoyed the art of embroidery. She was married to the late David Asberry "Berry" Bowers and is survived by one son, Coy Patrick Bowers of Brunson, one daughter, Poppy Ann Gooding of Estill and one brother, Bertie Smith of Hanahan. There are 3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2009 at 11 AM in the Black Creek Primitive Baptist Church near Hampton, conducted by Elder Terrell Harvey. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME, 300 Mulberry Street West, Hampton, SC 29924 (803-943-3352) on Monday evening from 5 until 7 PM. Sorry to hear about Aunt Elizabeth. It has been a long time since I have seen her, but she has been thought about often. She was always good to me when I visited with my Grandmother Bowers. She made the best lemon meringue pie, just for me. It is still my favorite pie! My prayers are with you Poppy and Pat and their family.
