We are deeply saddened by the loss of Father John. We are heartbroken that we did not hear of his death until after his funeral. We have fond memories from his start at OLOJ on through his departure for Wickenburg. He had a real understanding of his parishoners and always had a simple and light-hearted answer to current problems. We were delighted he came back to officiate our wedding at OLOJ in 1997.

I had the pleasure of knowing Father Vogt when he was pastor at St Leo parish and the Ruma Convent in the Belleville Illinois diocese. Carolyn I'm so glad that i had the privilege to speak to you and farher recently.

WE BECAME TO KNOW HIM WHEN HE WOULD STAY IN THE SUPER 8 MOTEL IN WICKENBURG WHERE MY HUSBAND AND I USE TO WORK.

Fr. John was an inspiration to us. We followed him from Our Lady of Joy to St. Bernard of Clairvaux to Wickenburg. He presided over our 50th Wedding Anniversary and was there for me when we buried my husband. He attended my 75th birthday party. He will forever be in my heart. My sympathy to the Vogt family.

Father John's late brother Jim lived next door to me. He used to call him "Padre". I had the opportunity to meet Father John and to celebrate in a mass with him. He will be very much missed. He was a kind man and had a good sense of humor. My thoughts and sympathy are with the entire Vogt family! God Bless You!
