I discovered Mrs. Wilder's books only this summer. What an inspiration she is to those who entertain thoughts of "too late for me." Her daughter and sons and their families surely are buoyed by their mother's strong faith and the clear knowledge that she touched thousands of lives. How valuable is a life well-lived.

Effie Wilder was my father's aunt. She had the Leland family's characteristic sense of the absurd and a delightful laugh. She was a great storyteller. As my mother, who is 89, said when she learned of Effie's death, " A great light in the world has gone out."
We will miss her.

I have been a fan of Effie Wilder's books since her daughter-in-law Ginga introduced me to them. Although we never met in person, I've always felt I've known her and that she was a great and special lady. Even those of us across the country will miss her.
Love and prayers for all the family.

Hi, I would like to express my deepest sympathies, I did not know Mrs Wilder very well but , my Grandmother who lived at the Presbyterian Home in Summerville from 1975 till she came to live with us in 1990 knew her . I have most of Mrs Wilders books and enjoy them alot . I feel sure that when I visted the Home when I did that I met her some time . What a wonderful lady Mrs Wilder was. Truly inspiring. Hope this poem written below will bring some comfort.
I have fallen asleep my loved ones;
I am in the arms of God.
I have crossed over the Jordan -
on to the other side.
Jesus was waiting here for me, my friends and family by his side.
There's so much beauty
and joy here in Heaven:
angels softly singing
and saints worshipping God ,
There is no reason to mourn for me
because although I have died,
I will still go on living
not only in heaven,
but also in heart and mind.
With Gods' love and glory around us
and angels at his side,
we will soon be together, united,
one bright and glorious day
