Edythe Duranne Beard Petit Mt. Pleasant - Edythe Duranne Beard Petit, 74, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of the late George Henry Petit, III died Wednesday, October 4, 2017. Her Funeral Service will be held Sunday, October 8, 2017 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends Sunday in the Mount Pleasant Chapel from 1:00 pm until time of the service. Duranne was born September 5, 1943 in Brunswick, Georgia, daughter of the late Allen Durant Beard and the late Edna Louise Giddens Beard. She was a retired rural letter carrier for the United States Post Office in Mount Pleasant and an accomplished Lowcountry artist. She is survived by daughter, Kerry Martin Bryce (Smith) of Manning, SC; son, Durant B. Petit (Heather) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; four grandchildren, Kai Petit of James Island, SC, Maggie B. Kanemitsu (Greyson) of Ladson, SC, Chandler Bryce of Manning, SC and Miles Strickland of Mount Pleasant, SC; two great-grandchildren, Aria Kanemitsu and Billy Kanemitsu both of Ladson, SC; sister, Joy Storms of Ponte Vedra, FL; sister-in-law, Carol Lee Munoz of Summerville, SC; two step-sons, George Henry Petit, IV (Kelly) of Sullivan's Island, SC and Michael Scott Petit of Mount Pleasant, SC and numerous nieces and nephews.
