Edythe Abbott Obituary

Edythe Mae Simpson Abbott CLAYTON, DE - Edythe Mae Simpson Abbott, daughter of the late James Bernice Hamilton Simpson and Beulah Marian Murray Simpson was born September 2, 1916. One of four children she was the sister of the late Wilbur Cannon Simpson and Elizabeth Simpson Burk. She is survived by her sister Beulah Simpson Easterlin Wilks. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Nathaniel Abbott and her son William Nathaniel Abbott Jr. She is survived by her daughter Angela Abbott Donat, son-in-law Daryl D. Donat, four loving granddaughters, and seven great-grandchildren of Clayton, Delaware and Roanoke, Virginia. Edie was graduated from Memminger High School and Greenwood Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse and later in life managed one of the family owned Simpson's Woman's Apparel stores in Charleston. Edie was an accomplished baker, renowned for her pound cakes, and an avid gardener who had a green thumb and all green fingers. She was a most loving and caring aunt to her many nieces and nephews. A graveside burial service will be held on Friday 6, November, 1:00 p.m., at Boone Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery, Summerville. Visit our guestbook at www.postandcourier.com/deaths
