Bonita Burns Obituary

Bonita "Bonnie" Burns, 79, Fridley, MN, passed away on December 26, 2025. She was born July 15, 1946 to Gustav and Gina (Johnson) Hultman in Minneapolis, MN.

Bonnie graduated from North High School in 1964. After high school she began working for the Minneapolis Public Schools (MSP).  She met her future husband, Gerald Jerry Burns at Vocational High School where she worked at KBEM Radio as a traffic manager.  The two were married in March 1980. They moved from North Minneapolis and made their home in Fridley in 1984. Bonnie and Jerry had one son, Erik.

Bonnie loved to gamble. There were many trips made to Vegas. She loved going to theatre. The family often vacationed in Lanesboro, MN. In 2007, Bonnie and Jerry made a 45-day trip to Alaska in their fifth wheel camper. She also enjoyed watching TV and spending time with her dogs. She and Jerry had 8 dogs throughout their marriage.

Bonnie is survived by her husband of 45 years, Jerry Burns; son, Erik Burns; and granddaughter, Andrianna Burns. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gustav and Gina Hultman.

Memorial visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Miller Funeral Home.
