Edward Vance Obituary

Edward Vance LADSON - Edward Homer Vance, 76, of Ladson, South Carolina, passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at the Lowcountry Community Hospice House. Edward was born on May 29, 1947 in Glace, WV and was the son of Marion Vance (Hoskins) and Andrew Vance. Edward is preceded in death by sisters, Sylvia Heist and Susan McGee and brother, Maynard Vance He was a loving father and husband and is survived by his wife of 49 years, Matilda Vance, his daughter, Rebecca Vance and his remaining brother, Arnold Vance. Edward was a veteran of the United States Army and he moved to South Carolina in 1985 with his family for work. He was a strong, hard worker and was a long-time employee of the Charleston Naval Shipyard until its closure and retired from Show Denko Carbon Inc. Edward was a member of Crossroads Community Church and blessed all of those around him by his selfless acts of service. The family will receive friends on July 27, 2023 after the funeral at their home. A graveside burial service will be held at 10:00 am on July 27, 2023 at Dorchester Memory Gardens at 11000 Dorchester Road Summerville, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Community Church at 505 Gahagan Road, Summerville, SC 29485 or Dorchester Paws at 136 Four Paws Lane, Summerville, SC 29483.
