Edward Sanders Obituary

Edward K. Sanders CHARLESTON - Captain Edward K. Sanders, JAGC, USN (Ret.) passed away on the morning of July 11, 2009, in Charleston, South Carolina. The relatives and friends of Captain Sanders are invited to attend his graveside services at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, Ashley River Road, Charleston, SC, on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at eleven o'clock. Captain Edward was born on October 1, 1926 in Nashville, Tennessee, son of the late Dr. E. M. Sanders and the late Sarah K. Sanders. Captain Sanders graduated from Peabody Demonstration School in 1944, he attended the University of the South (Navy V-12 program from 1944-1945) and received a BA from the Vanderbilt University in 1948 and his LLB in 1951). He was employed with Financial responsibility Division, Dept of Safety in the State of Tennessee in 1951-1952; Private practice law, Franklin, TN. 1952-1961; He served in the U.S. Navy from 1961-1985 (Judge Navy Marine Corps Court of Military Review, 1979-1984. He was a former secretary Franklin Lions Club in TN, and Sandy's Lions Club in Bermuda. He was also a former member of Vestry Old St. Andrews Episcopal Church of Charleston, SC. He formerly volunteered with the Soup Kitchen and Crisis Ministries of Charleston. Surviving are, Margaret Boylin Sanders wife of 56 years of Charleston, SC; a son Edward K. Sanders Jr. and wife Mary of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two daughters Sarah Kendrick Sanders of Charleston, SC and Virginia Jackson Sanders of San Francisco, CA; one grandson Joseph Parsons Sanders of Mt. Pleasant, SC. In Lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to S.P.C.A., 2455 Remount Road, North Charleston, SC 29405.
