Edward James Reed, Sr. N. CHARLESTON - Edward James Reed, Sr., 76, of North Charleston, SC, husband of Vicky Gagnon Reed, entered into eternal rest Thursday, April 27, 2023. His Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2023 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 12:00 pm. Interment to follow at Whispering Pines Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, one hour prior to the service. Edward was born December 9, 1946 in Hermon, NY, son of the late Clifford E. Reed and the late Elizabeth E. Moore Reed. He graduated from Hermon DeKalb in June 1964. Meatcutting School in Ohio. Married June 23, 1966. U.S. Air Force Veteran serving from 1964 - 1969; St. Joe Mines for 11 years and retired Superintendent for Public Works for City of North Charleston, SC. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Vicky Reed of North Charleston, SC; daughter, Carrie Jean Reed Tackett (Randy) of Fern Beach, FL; three sons: Edward James Reed, Daniel Joseph Reed (Amanda), Douglas Jason Reed of Anderson, SC; three siblings: Juanita Chase of NY, Helen Reed of OR, Larry Reed of FL; two brothers-in-law: John Gagnon of Ft. Mill, SC and Stan Gagnon of Summerville, SC; eight grandchildren: Edward Adam Reed and Melissa Rene Reed of England, Jonathan Sheppard of GA, Joshua Sheppard, Kaylynn Tackett, Amelia Tackett all of FL, Luke Reed and Mabel Reed of Summerville, SC; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, David John Reed in 1989, siblings: Donald Reed, Roger Reed and Dale Reed; and brother-in-law, James David Gagnon.
