Edward Ernest Mackey, Jr. James Island - Edward Ernest Mackey, Jr., 75, of Charleston, SC, husband to Sandra Mackey (Martin) of 49 years, entered into eternal rest on July 2, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 19, 1945 in Charleston, SC Edward was the son of the late Edward Ernest Mackey, Sr. and Jannie Mackey. Edward was a member of James Island Baptist Church, the James Island Masonic Lodge, The Scottish Rite and was an Omar Shriner. He enjoyed Deer Hunting, Fishing, Wood Working and Spending time with his beloved family. Edward served in the United States Air Force and retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard (shop 64) and the Citadel. Besides his wife, Edward is survived by his son, Edward E. Mackey III of Cottageville, SC, daughter, Angela Mackey Clyde (Patrick) of Ladson, SC and daughter, Patience Evans (Wayne) of Reidsville, NC. grandchildren, Kathryn Henggeler (Jay) of Eugene OR and James Matthews III of Columbia, SC. Edward was predeceased by his bothers, Lawrence Strock, Henry Strock and Wilson Strock. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 5 PM - 7 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, James Island, 347 Folly Rd., Charleston, SC 29412. The service will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 11 AM at James Island Baptist Church 2023 Wappoo Drive, Charleston SC 29412.
