Edward Joostema Obituary

Edward Steven Joostema CHARLESTON - Edward Steven Joostema, 75, was born March 21, 1939 in NJ. Steve passed away Sept. 30, 2014 surrounded by his family. Steve grew up in Morristown, NJ, where he raised his family with his wife, Betty. They retired to Charleston in 2008. He spent his career in the banking industry, first at Bank of New York, then Marine Midland Bank. Steve loved spending time at the beach in NC, playing the slot machines, listening to country music, mowing his lawn and gardening. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Betty; son, Kevin Joostema and wife Karen of Great Falls, VA, daughters Beth Cutright of Sarasota, FL, Lynn Plattner and husband Rob of Sarasota, FL, and Judy Christakis of Point Pleasant, NJ. Steve is also survived by 10 grandchildren and sisters Laurie Joostema, Kris MacMillin and Lisa Cullin. Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral mass on Oct. 4 at 9am at St. John the Beloved Church, 28 Sumter Ave, Summerville, SC.
