When both Ed & me were 19-yrs. old --- & attending the Univ. of Conn. (UCONN) --- we met & became friends at our then "Carpenter Steel" summer job,, in Bridgeport, Conn. "WHERE does time go?!" (a line from the movie "Jaws", the on-the-beach scenes). I was hardly the great intellect that Ed always was --- indeed, he called me his, "Weekend Drinking Buddy" (which was O.K. by me). And long before his 'Foot Doctor" endeavors, he had already earned a Masters Degree in RUSSIAN & Slavic Languages from UCONN! He then went on for his PEDIATRIC degrees at Univ. of Penn. All of his life, ED OBSESSIVELY drove himself to become a 'DOCTOR' --- of SOME kind. He also repeatedly told me that one day he would buy a BIG SAILBOAT for himself. He eventually DROPPED-OUT of his Russian & Slavic Languages (PHD Program) at Univ. of Penn --- as noted above. At that later time, I asked him WHY??? In reply he said, "I simply could not take the LOOMING peer-reviewed-journal-articles-publishing pressures of a Russian/Slavic languages PROFESSOR, at whatever university. I want to be a DOCTOR who helps people with his HANDS." And he DID. May God keep you forever, Ed; and your survivors to boot!

Dear Moira & Gang,
It took me a while to write because, as usual, I had a lot to say! Now that I've edited it down - my message is that you and the kids are so darn strong.... I know a passing is such hard work for a family to get through, but you've got spunk. The kids do too!
You know if you need anything all you have to do is pick up the phone and I will be there - any time.
We love you guys-
Debi, Jim & Josselyn
Love and prayers from Teddy and Amber O'Brien also.

I just heard of Eddie's passing and I am so sorry. I spent time with Ed at his wedding and a number of visits after that both at his office and at podiatry meetings. I have been meaning to get back to Summerville for some time and now its too late.

Dear Mrs. Imko and family,
Ed's death was announced during prayers at St. George's on Sunday. I was so sorry to hear it. Ed chatted with me at a few church events, and he always had a welcoming smile and a gentle hello. Please accept my condolences. You are in my prayers.
