Edward Hunt Obituary

Edward Ford Hunt, Jr. N. CHARLESTON - Edward Ford Hunt, Jr., 83, of N. Charleston, SC, husband of Celia Shaw Hunt, entered into eternal rest Saturday, January 6, 2024. His Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road, at 3:00 pm. The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at a later date in Chenango Cemetery, Troupsburg, NY. Ed was born August 2, 1940 in Cortland, New York, son of the late Edward F. and Lela Fehr Hunt. He graduated from Cortland High School in 1958 and from Alfred State University (NY) in 1961 with an AS in Heating & Hydronics. He worked as a sales representative for Weil-McClain, Inc. from 1961-1972 covering upstate NY and Vermont. Because of his successes, Ed and Kay participated in trips to Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Mexico, and Hawaii. He returned to the family business "Hunt the Plumber" in 1972, eventually owning and running it until 1995. Lastly, he worked as a property manager for Byck Management Company of Savannah, GA until his retirement in 2005. Some of Ed's greatest likes included time with his kids and grandkids, hunting, fishing, camping, the outdoors, traveling, home improvement, Hunt family fishing trips to the Cabonga Reservoir in Quebec, the Hunt family camp on Song Lake, the beach at Divi in Aruba, and their mountain home in Blowing Rock, NC. He was hard-working, industrious, determined, and good with his hands. If he did something, he did it the right way. He rarely missed his kid's sporting events, band concerts, or award ceremonies. Ed was a great caregiver for his first wife, Kay, in her battle with cancer. Ed was a member of Cortland Kiwanis Club (past president) and the Homer Elks Club. He was a coach for Homer Little League, bowled in the Cortland Ball & Chain League, and was an active church member throughout his life. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Celia Shaw Hunt; daughter, Julie (Madison) Bolton; two sons, Chris (Julie) Hunt and Michael (Janice) Hunt; two siblings, Janice (David) Walters and Robert Hunt; step-daughter, Karen Swayne; step-son, Phillip (Ada) Shaw; grandchildren, Ryan (Aly), Rachel, Abigail (Cullen), Emily, Lindsay, Hunter, Natalie, & Chase; step-grandchildren, Gabrielle (Joshua), Carla (Thomas), Coral (Kevin), Tristian (Abigail), Alexandria (Joseph), & Madison (Adam); and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 45 years, Kay Hunt, and step-son David Bannan. Flowers will be accepted or donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Northwood Church, 4020 2nd Ave., Summerville, SC 29486.
