Well,I made it through Thanksgiving and now its almost Christmas. These are very challenging times. Oh, how I miss Dad and Mom so very much. I am praying daily that God will give us the strength to go through these times. I know that you are not susposed to dwell on the past but move on... God will see us through. I truly did not know it would be this hard! I can truly encourage and comfort someone else with those familiar words, "I know what you are going through, I know how you feel." I guess that's why God allows us to go through things that we really don't understand.

Your daughter,

The GREATEST DAD a child could have had. I miss you so much that I cry daily. I pray to God for strength, so I know I will be allright in time. I realize that 2 years ago I had both of my Parents and now they are both gone, what a terrible heartfelt lost.
I promise my Dad that I will be Strong.
and I will. But right now the pain is so great. I will miss you so much.
I love you Dad, your Daughter Edna.

As I sit here on the day before Thanksgiving 2009, I can't help but think that this will be my first holiday season without my parents, Edward and Louise Grant. I remember them cooking in the kitchen together getting ready for all the family to come home. While I will forever miss their physical presence, I gain strength and comfort in knowing that they are reacquainted, smiling down from heaven and will forever be with me in spirit. They were a true testament of God's love and devotion to us all and I want them to know that their legacy WILL live on in their children. To my siblings..Geraldine, Edna, Curtis, Cedric, D'Angelo and T'Follio we have been left with a charge to keep elevating higher and higher. Let's be about our Father's business. Daddy and Mama, I love you and miss you dearly!!!

To the Grant Family;
I can remember as a little girl Mr. Grant praising the Lord and giving God his all. I also remembered as a young lady this same man still praising the Lord. Now as a Woman of God I will always remember Mr. Grant giving God his all. As a young preacher, he always encouraged me by saying no matter what stick with the Lord. He will always hold special memories in my heart as a man who gave God his all.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

I thank God for the life and legacy of Deacon Edward Grant. He and his wife have raised a very fine family. One word that truly describes him is "faithful." A deep dedication to God and family spoke volumes to the character of this man. I admonish the family to let the legacy live on. I, also, encourage the family to keep looking to the hills from which comes your help; for all of your help truly comes from the Lord!

God bless,

Mother & Deacon Grant are walking streets of gold - hand in hand - with their Saviour. Your Father is at peace and so is your Mom. I pray that your family will REMAIN strong and united as one. Please keep the strong family values that I have admired through the years. Teach your children and grandchildren the things that your parents taught you.....THIS...will help keep their legacy alive. She was a wonderful church mother and he was a remarkable man of God. I grew to love them both in a most ususal way. I will miss them dearly.

My name is Elana Horry. I am Mr. Edward's Grant 1st grandchild. I would like to post a few words about my grandfather.

A man of many words known to all
A voice of wisdom to you all
Take care of your kids, he would say
Take care of your kids, this was his way
Of those he had, he loved them dear
He approached life with no fear.
God was his leader throughout his days
He followed him faithfully in every way
Get something to eat, this is what he said
He would make sure that you were well fed
So many memories, I am so glad.
I am proud to say, he was my granddad.

October 28, 2009

This is my dad. He was the greatest father in the world.

To the Grant Family,

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

It has been a pleasure meeting Bro. Grant and talking with him. After attending Calvary for about 2 months, he took my hand and "told me", "I want you to be on the Stewardess Board". I shook his hand and said, "yes sir".

I met his family one Tuesday afternoon while dining out in North Charleston and Bro. Grant was smiling and enjoying himself.

Hold on to the memories and keep Bro. Grant close in your hearts. He is in a better place.
