Remembering you fondly, my "little brother." We teased each other unmercifully when we were very young, however, that all changed when, at 15, I discovered the hard way that you could run faster than me! You were a kind, gentle and sweet brother; I miss you all the time. B-Barb

we served with Ed in Schwaebish Gmuend, Germay from '75 to '78. We took our first trip to Garmish together. Also took a ski week in Austria together. He was my best friend during those years; we arrived together, and worked together....down the hall from each other. He was such a good, good man....always the smile that you see. What a shock to see his name in an Army magazine...couldn't believe it. We had several Thanksgiving meals together.

We know he is in Heaven now; he lived his life well. I'm sure many miss him; I can only reiterate, he was a good, good man and lived his life with integrity, compassion, and total honesty. David and Nancy Dynneson, COL, U.S. Army, Retired.

Mr. Ettner and family,
I want to express my sincere condolences to you and your family on the passing of Eddie, Jr. I went to Norfolk Catholic with him, but didn't run in his circle. I remember him exactly the way he looks in the photo provided in his obit. He hasn't changed one iota. You and his mother taught him the values of life and he practiced them everyday. My thoughts & prayers go out to you and the family. I, too, know what it's like to lose loved ones. It gets better, but the ache never really leaves you.
Please take care of yourself and all of Eddie's sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews.

CDR Ettner, I'm so sorry to hear about Eddie's passing. He came to our 40th class reunion back in 2005. Before the reunion, I called him several times begging him to come because he had never made it to one of our reunions. He still looked like the same guy I rode to school with for a couple of years. One time, I was driving home from school, and Eddie's younger sister was in the back seat. We were riding down Granby Street and 3 guys from our class were in a car in front of us. 2 were in the back seat. All of a sudden, their heads disappear, and then there are 2 bare naked behinds mooning us! Eddie never said a word; I laughed. I don't think his sister saw what happened. He was so quiet. Never mentioned it again. He's at peace.

I went to lunch today with a friend of mine from the Fort Belvoir OCS class that gradauated December 15, 1970 - Eddie was in my class and a very good responsible classmate. Eddie was a great all-round guy that was always there to help and assit us in getting the job done. I have not heard from Eddie since 1970 but I remeber him well - just like it was yesterday - all of our thoughts and prayers go from my family to Eddie's in this time of need and this loss - HDI, Jr

I remember Eddie as Ellie's big brother in Poplar Halls. He was always coming and going. Eddie put up with a lot of young adolescent girls! I'm so sorry, Ellie, to learn of his death.
