Edward "Jake" Duvall Summerville - Edward "Jake" Duvall, 58, of Summerville, SC, died unexpectedly Wednesday, September 27, 2017, in Rijeka, Croatia. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, October 7th, 2017, at James Dyal Funeral Home at 303 S Main St., Summerville SC 29483, with committal to follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to MUSC Children's Hospital or Carolina Children's Charity. Jake was born on July 4, 1959 in upstate New York. After serving in the U.S. Navy for four years, Jake moved to Summerville, SC, where he started his life with his wife Kim. He began his career at Mi-Tech, Inc. in 1989 as a propulsion mechanic after working for several years at Braswell Shipyard. His work took him around the world, traveling to various places including Scotland, Ireland, Singapore, Guam, Egypt, Djibouti, India, South Korea, Spain, Italy, and Croatia. He is remembered as a hard-working man who always put his family first. He was a grill master who loved poolside cookouts with his family, working on home improvement projects, and always had a smile on his face. Jake is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kimberly M. Duvall, their son Steven J. Duvall (Rebecca) of Richmond Hill, GA and their daughter, Julie M. Duvall (Patrick Reynolds) of Conway, SC. Three granddaughters; Emily Grace Duvall, Sadie Duvall, and Alexis Abbott; his brother-in-law Dwayne Gray; sisters-in-law Tanya Gray, Shannon Burnett (Joey), and Dawn Stewart (Brad). Four nieces and nephews; Hannah and Caleb Burnett, Allyson and Dylan Stewart. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracie Ann Duvall, and his mother-in-law Gracie Popham.
