Edward Davis Obituary

Edward Julius Davis WOODLEAF, NC - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Edward Julius Davis, 76, of Woodleaf, NC. Ed passed on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Meadowbrook Health and Rehabilitation in Salsbury, NC. Funeral services were conducted on July 29, 2025 at Lambert Funeral Home in Mocksville, NC. Ed was born September 1, 1948, in Charleston, SC, to the late Dorothy Belle Herron Davis and Corbett D. Davis, Jr. He was a 1966 graduate of Chicora High in Charleston and went on to receive BS and MS degrees in chemistry from Tulane University. From there, Ed began a 40 plus year career in the textile industry, specializing in manufacturing and finishing of denim. He pioneered dyeing, finishing and stone washing processes, while holding positions that ranged from plant manager to leader of product development. Ed was a person of unwaivering faith, serving his church and community as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He loved all things outdoors from an early age, hunting and fishing the Edisto River and Lake Marion with family and friends. His hobbies included woodworking, gardening, landscaping, and collecting native American artifacts. And in addition to pulling for his alma mater, Ed was a Clemson fan - a Davis family tradition. Despite his professional and personal skills, nothing pleased him more than providing for and mentoring his family. Ed and his wife, Beth's, Lake Marion retirement home served as the perfect place to spoil their many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Holiday gatherings brought them much happiness by providing pontoon boat rides, ice cream, fireworks and beautiful Christmas decorations, Ed is survived by his wife of 49 years, Elizabeth Davis; brothers, Richard Davis (Bonnie), Mark Davis (Joy), Tim Davis (Denise) and Chris Davis; sons, Douglas Foster, Micheal Foster (Donna) and Brian Foster (Heather); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildern. The family would like to thank Ed's caregivers from Novant Rowan Medical Center, Liberty Hospice and Meadowbrook Health and Rehabilitation. In his honor, please consider a contribution to Alzheimer's Association, Western NC Chapter, 4600 Park Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209.
