Edward Cutler Obituary

CUTLER, III, Edward BEAUFORT, SC - Edward C. "Ed" Cutler, III, 81, died August 31, 2006, in Roper Hospital, Charleston, SC. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Helena's Episcopal Church. Mr. Cutler was born on July 1, 1925 in Philadelphia, PA; a son of the late E. Clifford Cutler, Jr. and Frances Ray Cutler. He was a graduate of Ursinus College and was a veteran of the US Navy. During WW II as an ensign, he served aboard the minesweeper USS Deft, became the senior officer on board and in 1946, returned the USS Deft from Japan through a tidal wave to Los Angeles. He was an accountant for Philco Corporation and Ford Motor Co. He and his wife retired to Beaufort in 1992. He was a member of St. Helena's Episcopal Church, the "1712 Preservation Trust" served as a docent, cared for infirm members and provided transportation to members in order for them to attend healing services. He was a member of Lion's Club, Gideons International, and was a Mason. He was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, C. Catherine Yeager Cutler. He is survived by a son, Rev. E. Clifford Cutler of Philadelphia, PA; two daughters, Julia A. Cutler of Beaufort, Frances R. Bonge of Greenville, SC; and two grandsons.
