Edna Charzewski Obituary

Edna Charzewski
November 30, 1933 - November 17, 2016

With heavy hearts we announce that surrounded by her family our mother, grandmother and great grandmother Edna Charzewski passed into Eternal life at the age of 82.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children; Reg Moore (Debbie), Sharon Varga, Steve Charzewski (Lori), Dan Charzewski, Jarod Charzewski (Jennifer), grandchildren, Kathy Carlson (Chris), Becky Hebert, Les Varga (Nicole), Tyler Charzewski (Jamie),Mackenzie Charzewski, Clint Moore, Gary Moore (Karan), Lee Moore (Nicole), Jack Charzewski, Evan Charzewski, and Robert Charzewski along with 10 great grandchildren. Mom was predeceased by her husband Joe, her parents, Jacob and Margaret Friesen, and 15 brothers and sisters.

Mom was born in Makaroff, Manitoba and she was the last surviving of child of Jacob and Margaret Friesen. Throughout her years she worked in Dauphin, Manitoba, Dominion Hat and Cap in Winnipeg and finishing her working career as a bookkeeper at S & S Sportswear in Winnipeg.

For the last years of mom's life she resided in Transcona and before that she lived in the North End of Winnipeg. She loved to attend fall suppers, lunches at the Senior Centre in Transcona, and travelling with the seniors group to South Beach. She also belonged to a bowling League at Mosienkos' Bowling alley for many many many years. One of the greatest joys in mom's life was spending time with her children, grandchildren and many many friends. She attended not only all her children's concerts but her grandchildren's concerts where she would clap the loudest at their performances.

Mom's beliefs in the Swedenborg's teaches with the Church of New Jerusalem were strong and she carried those with her always. Every church service you could hear mom singing above the crowd.

Mom's zest for life, her incredible sense of humor, her love of family and Friends, her heartfelt laughter, and a smile that would light up the darkest day will be missed daily.

The family would like to say a special Thank you to Karan Kraft, for her compassion and all the support she gave our family.

At our mother's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of mom's life will be held at Green Acres Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 23rd, 2016 at 10:00am. A private family internment will follow at a later date.

Mom/Grandma, you will never be forgotten. You are finally at rest and rejoined with the love of your life, we will carry you in our hearts daily…until we meet again.

I only knew my Aunt Edna as a youngster, when we visited in Daughin, ,Man. with Mom & Dad (David & Annie Braun). As l remember her, she had one great smile that always shone & made us kids all comfortable around her. May she rest in Peace with her brothers & sisters eternally.

As a child I was only vaguely aware of my Aunt Edna. We lived a fair distance away....60 miles...which was a long way when your parents didn't have a vehicle. But I do remember her coming to stay with us kids in Roblin when her sister Agnes, my mother, was in Winnipeg undergoing surgery for T.B. It was during this time that Edna would hitch-hike from Dauphin to Roblin to look after us. And as years passed we saw each other only briefly, as she moved to Winnipeg with Reggie and Sharon; found a job; met Joseph Charzewski....who was THE LOVE
of her life; had Steve, Daniel and Jarod...and here we are today, mourning our loss . Edna gave so much of herself and her time to other folks with no hesitation and never sought return for favours given.

Now on the funnier side, she and my mother were famous for getting lost when they were out and about together! In Edna's car of course! Like the time they were heading to sister Annie's 80th birthday party in Kelowna...they left Williams Lake but must have taken a wrong turn at Albuquerque 'cause they ended up in Hope in the Fraser Canyon! Too much yakking and no one reading road signs. This was way before GPS! We sure had a good hoot over that manoeuvre, as did they! But they did make it to the party!

Our Aunt reminds me so much of her mother, our Grandmother, Margaret Friesen who shone with the same personality. Lovely women in my eyes!

As her namesake, I can only aspire to be as kind and loving as she was, and as beautiful a person. Our condolences to her family.....

I always remember Aunty Edna being a strong woman who loved to laugh. We were separated by 3 provinces and on her last visit to BC several years ago, she left her cane behind. I still have it. I spoke with her a few times over the last few months. She always talked about her family and she was so proud of them. Aunty Edna, you will be missed. Condolences to all of her family. We are thinking of you during this sad time. Take care

We have known Edna for 54 years, ever since Joe chose her as the love of his life. Even though separated by geography, we talked regularly. She always delighted in telling stories about her children and grandchildren, her busy lunch social life, and, yes, commiserating about the weather. As a strong spirit, she overcame obstacles and savoured her family's accomplishments. Our hearts go out to Reg, Sharon, Steven, Danny, Jarod and their families.

We are so sorry that we can't be there for her funeral, but you are in our hearts.
Uncle David and Auntie Maxine.
