Edith Blanton Obituary

Edith Blanton CHARLESTON - Edith W. Blanton, age 85, went to be with her heavenly father on June 9th, 2013. She was born in Cadwell, GA on Sept. 10, 1927. She retired from MUSC in 1993 after 30 years; she was a business office manager, worked in communications, and helped develop their first computer system. She is preceded in death by her husband, Oscar T. Blanton, two brothers, two sisters and two grandsons. She is survived by her son Dr. James A. Blanton of Atlanta, daughter Linda Cope of Hanahan, and son Gordon M. Blanton of James Island. She has seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one godson, Reed. She was a faithful member of Fort Johnson Baptist Church for over 30 years, teaching Sunday school for a majority of that time.
