Earle was chosen to be the lead mechanic of Air Force One during JFK's presidency. He was also handpicked by the pentagon to set up and operate a training facility in Tehran, Iran, for the Shah of Iran. In 1967, after a year of combat duty in Vietnam, he trained to become a flight engineer on C-141 aircraft under the 41st MAC and was assigned to the Charleston SC Air Force base. In a matter of 5 years, he accumulated over 4000 flight hours and also the responsibility of squadron first sergeant. Master Sergeant Freeman retired in August 1975 after 20 years of service to his country. Earle then opened an auto repair business with his good friend Eddie Davis. Their business, E&E Automotive, was known for its honest and superb service to the public. They operated the business for 25 years before they both retired again in 2000.
