E.P. Keller Obituary

Rev. E.P. Keller, Jr. St. Stephen, SC - Rev. Edwin Phillip "Stump" Keller, Jr., 87, of St. Stephen, SC, pastor of the St. Stephen Evangelical Church, died Tuesday afternoon at his residence. His funeral will be 11:00 AM Monday morning, September 24, 2018, in the St. Stephen Evangelical Church. Interment will follow in the Keller-Carr Cemetery, directed by DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. The family will receive friends at the CHURCH from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM Sunday afternoon. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to The Gideons International, PO Box 1713, Moncks Corner, SC 29461. Rev. Keller was born October 21, 1930, in St. Stephen, SC, a son of Edwin P. Keller, Sr., and Lillian Bell Keller. Along with his wife, Sadie, they founded the St. Stephen Evangelical Church in 1967, and he ministered there for over 50 years. He was the former owner and operator of Keller Hardware, and he was a US Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. In his earlier years, Rev. Keller worked for his father at the E.P. Keller Lumber Company. He enjoyed bird hunting, fishing, working in his yard, and growing roses, but he especially loved fellowshipping with his family, his church family, and members of the community. Rev. Keller was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Owens and Carolyn Jett. Surviving are, his wife, Sadie Gibbons Keller; four daughters, Lillian K. Ballentine and her husband, Bob, of St. Stephen, Shirley Carr and her husband, Mike, of St. Stephen, Karyl K. Barnette of Moncks Corner, and Jennifer K. Easler and her husband, Bud, of St. Stephen; three sons, E.P. "Chip" Keller, III, and his wife, Pam, of Goose Creek, Chris Keller of St. Stephen, and John Keller of Moncks Corner; a sister, Rhoda K. Wrenn and her husband, Garen, of Moncks Corner; twenty-five grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In my life I have only known a few men as steadfast as Mr. Keller. He was such a role model for so many. May God grant his family comfort, he will be sorely missed.
