Douglas Stone Obituary

Douglas Stone Moncks Corner - Douglas W. "Joe" Stone, 84, of Moncks Corner, SC, a retired office manager with the SCDOT, died Sunday morning in Mt. Pleasant. Mr. Stone's funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday afternoon, October 3, 2018, in the CHAPEL OF DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Doc Williams SPCA, PO Box 565, Goose Creek, SC 29445. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday. Mr. Stone was born June 25, 1934, in Manning, SC, a son of Samuel Ferdinand Stone and Elizabeth McElveen Stone. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Moncks Corner. Mr. Stone loved fishing, cooking grits, and coin collecting. He enjoyed raising and spending time with his grandchildren. He was very good at beating the "Claw Machine", he was very witty with a lot of one liner's, did algebra for fun and was a very good speller. He was the book keeper for Howard's Restaurant. He was predeceased by two sisters, Susan White and Sadie Stone; and three brothers, Jimmy Stone, Samuel Stone, and Beasley Stone. Surviving are his wife, Laverne James Stone; a daughter, Wanda Bair of Moncks Corner; his grandchildren, Jessica Bair-Epps and her husband Matthew of Greensboro, NC, Stephen Bair and his wife, Tara, of Florence, and Dirk Bair and his wife, Erin, of Evanston, IL; a great-grandson, Warren Edward Epps; and several nieces and nephews.
