Dear Ellen,
I'm so very sorry for your loss. Lamar was dear to my friends the Mefferts, and by extension was dear to me, although I never knew him. May the Lord hold you tenderly during this time of deep grief.

I am deeply saddened by Lamar's death. I was on the pastor nominating committee which brought him to First Presbyterian Church in Milledgeville, Ga. During his short time in our church he was not only my pastor, but my personal friend. We regularly visited the sick and home bound members from our church and he referred to me as "bubba" which made me feel that we had a very close relationdship. I will miss him, but not as much as his family will. I extend by deepest sympathies to them.

Ellen, please know that words simply are not adequate to express my sympathy for your loss, but please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Lamar was a special friend and pastor to me during his time at FPC and especially during loss of my mother.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Lamar was a very special loving person. He was the major factor in our joining FPC in Milledgeville. He was one of the most hardworking and compassionate pastors I have known. We have missed him so much. It was such a pleasure to meet his family when they came through Milledgeville. He will always have a special place in our hearts.

Lamar will always remain in our hearts, he was such a nice and caring pastor when he was here in First Presbyterian church in Milledgeville Georgia. My children and I will miss him for ever. I am so sorry to hear about Lamar's passing. He always brought joy when I knew him in the Roaring Twenties Sunday School class in Atlanta. God Bless your family during this most difficult time.

Lamar was a treasured classmate while on the Louisville Presbyterian Seminary campus. My prayers are with his family, friends, and church. His unique presence will be missed by many.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of serving along side of Lamar on Pilgrimage council as well as many PP weekends. My fondest memory will be of him serving as one of my spiritual advisors on PP #65. I am blessed by having known him and he will be missed. May God grant you and your family peace as you travel down this road of healing.

Lamar will be missed by all that knew & loved him. He was a bright presence at Summerville Presbyterian I will miss his smile & love he projected to all.
