Dorothy Tuck Obituary

Dorothy May Tuck Mt. Pleasant - Dorothy May Tuck was born on May 28, 1932 in Haines City, Florida and entered into the presence of her Lord, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. She is the daughter of the late Gilbert H. & Millie "Dovie" Rutherford Knight of Eustis, Florida. At the age of 16 years old she placed her faith in Christ and expressed it publicly through baptism at Allapattah Baptist Church in Miami, Florida. She married Edwin John Tuck of Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada in November 21, 1962 at Golden Glades Baptist Church in Miami, Florida. Both Dorothy and Edwin shared the same birthday a year apart. They made their residences in Miami, Florida, Stockbridge, Georgia and Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. She worked as a scrub technician in surgical operating rooms in hospitals in Florida and Georgia and in her retirement volunteered at East Cooper Medical Center in Mount Pleasant. Her passion was loving people, worshipping her Savior and serving through hospitality ministry in churches. She was a beloved member of East Cooper Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant. Her life will be forever cherished by her sons & daughters-in-law, Eric (& Gail) Losey, Steve (& Lori) Tuck and Craig (& Rebecca) Tuck; by her grandchildren: Robert Bader, Brent Losey, David Losey, Courtney Carpenter, Jordan Tuck, Morgan Tuck, Rachel Tuck, Lindsay Tuck Fernandez, Heath Tuck and Meredith Tuck; by her 9 great-grandchildren. She is survived by a sister, Martha Matthews of Sorrento, Florida. Her life's passion was that Christ would be received as the one and true God by every man, woman & child. She sought to live her life by the principles of this verse in Holy Scripture: "Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name." Psalms 86:11. Visitation (10 a.m.) & Funeral Service (11 a.m.) will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at East Cooper Baptist Church: 361 Egypt Road, Mount Pleasant. She will be buried next to her beloved husband, Edwin John Tuck at Rolling Hills Memorial Gardens in Acworth, Georgia. Graveside Service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, 2019. I consider myself to be blessed to have know just a little of this fine woman. I so enjoyed finding her in the kitchen each Sunday as we prepared lunch for Veterans. Her smile and warm welcome - as well as showing me where everything was in the kitchen - was always grace-filled and loving. I only wish I had spent more time in that kitchen getting to know her. But, we will meet again and have plenty of time for that!! Love and comfort to the family as God leads you down this new road. Cherish the memories and the knowledge that your lives have been and will again be blessed by this dear woman of faith!
