To the family of Ms. Dorothy Smith:
My Mother, Lillie Hill, taught with Ms. Smith in the 50's at Jane Edwards Elementary School. She would ride from Charleston to Edisto Island and met other teachers that loved what they did. My Mother left us on May 15 of this year and would have been 98 on the 19th of May. I will remember to keep your family in prayer during this difficult part of your life. There are still some of us that remember the names of some that made a difference in the lives of so many children in those days. I recall the principal was Mr. Sammy Williams was the principal during 1956. My best to you for being related to a true pioneer for the children of Edisto Island.
