Dorothy Riddle Obituary

Dorothy Cook Riddle MT. PLEASANT - Dorothy LaUna Cook Riddle, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, formerly of Myrtle Beach, SC, wife of the late Harold Joseph Riddle passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at her residence. The family and friends of Dot Riddle are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Saturday, November 10, 2012 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL at 10:00 o'clock. The family will receive friends at Stuhr's Mount Pleasant Chapel from 9:00 until time of the service, as well as immediately following the service. Entombment will be in The Shrine of the Good Shepherd, Southern Palms Memorial Gardens, North Myrtle Beach, SC at 3:00 PM. Mrs. Riddle was born August 31, 1924 in Versailles, KY, daughter of the late Edward William Cook and Harriet Hefner Cook. She was a graduate of Furman University, after which she worked with Provence-Jarrard Company in Greenville, SC. A long time resident of Myrtle Beach, she was a member of The First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach and remained active in the church until moving to Mt. Pleasant. She was a member of the Heritage Book Club, several Bridge Clubs, the Dunes Golf & Beach Club, and was an at-large member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She possessed a great dry wit and deeply loved her family, especially her grandchildren to whom she was "Grandmama," "Mimi," and "Nana." She is survived by her daughter, Celeste Jean Riddle Myers of Marietta, GA; two sons, Keith L. Riddle of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Lt. Col. Neal E. Riddle and his wife, Gayle of Burke, VA; her grandchildren, D. Cooper Riddle of Purcellville, VA, Forrest M. Riddle of Fairfax, VA, Iain K.R. Riddle and Celeste M. Riddle, both of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Jackson Ross Myers and Jean Chappell Myers, both of Marietta, GA and many nieces and nephews. Dot is also survived by Cathy R. Riddle of Mt. Pleasant, SC, with whom she shared a special bond. Dot was preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret Cook, Peggy Black, Virginia Anne McLean, and Lucille Reagan. The family wishes to thank the home care health team of Hospice of Charleston, and a special thank you to the amazing caregivers of Care For Life, in particular Betty, Esther, Leatrice, Vanessa, Diedra, Ella, Elise, Barbara and all the others.
