Dorothy Lesko Obituary

Dorothy (Dee) Born Lesko passed away on August 7, 2025, with her devoted daughter Kimberly by her side. Dee was born on July 28, 1940, in Williamsport, PA, to the late Ellwood Hill and Edith Mae Born. In 1962, Dee graduated from Bloomsburg University, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Education. But even more than a degree, Dee left Bloomsburg with her husband of 62 years, Michael J. Lesko, who passed away exactly one year before. Dee was an excellent teacher. She taught students of all ages from rural New Jersey to the Charleston Air Force Base, but she had a special affinity toward her students at the Air Force Base who adored and respected Dee. During the holidays, Dee filled her house with the sweet smells of Christmas cookies, turtles, and candies that she gleefully delivered to loved ones. She enjoyed traveling with her family and friends, especially to Key West, Fernandina Beach, and Bermuda, where she soaked in the sun while enjoying Jimmy Buffet. Perhaps the only rival to the colorful sunsets and bright sounds Dee cherished were her vibrant outfits she carefully curated for each occasion. Faith and community were central to Dee's life. She deeply loved her church family who, in turn, surrounded her with friendship and support. Dee was predeceased by her husband, Mike Lesko, and is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Ann Lesko Steele (Thomas), of Waxhaw, NC; her granddaughters, Morgan Elizabeth Steele, of Greenville, SC, and Lindsey Steele Chester (JD), of Tampa, FL; her sister, Patricia Ann Bower, of Decatur, GA; and her nieces, nephew, and great-nephew. A celebration of Dee's life will be held on August 30, 2025, at 11:00, at Dorchester Presbyterian Church, 10290 Dorchester Rd., Summerville, SC 29485. In honor of Dee's deep love for her church and adopted fur-babies, the family requests donations be made to Dorchester Presbyterian Church or Dorchester Paws.
