Dorothy Knight Obituary

KNIGHT, Dorothy Knight, Dorothy Louise Lou Williams was raised to new life on June 16, 2006. Lou was born in Charleston, SC on March 14, 1943 to Dorothy May Hammett and Manning Bethea Williams, Sr. Lou graduated from Rivers High School in 1961 and went on to work at Kerrison's Department Store for fifteen years. She married the love of her life, Loranza D. Randy Knight, on November 16, 1974 at St. Barnabas Lutheran Church, downtown Charleston. They made a life together on Folly Beach, Lou's World, and were blessed with two loving stepsons and a wonderful daughter. Lou dedicated her life to her Lord and God, to her faith, and to her family until she took her last breath. Momma Lou, as she was known to many young people whose lives she touched, was a devoted Mother and loved teaching her children and grandchildren to love, to be honest, and to share. She believed wholeheartedly in treating people the way she wanted to be treated with kindness and respect. She gave compassion, love and trust to all, and to those who were troubled and needed it most, a peace of mind. Everyone knew to come to her for acceptance and understanding. Her philosophy of life was simple: enjoy today and live it as though it were your last, while holding tightly to your faith and values. Many enjoyable days were spent working in her yard, fishing, and boating with Randy and their children. She always looked forward to the Tuesday talks with her little granddaughter. Momma Lou is now home with the Lord. Surviving are her husband, Randy Knight; stepson, Dowl Knight and his wife Gwen; stepson, Sean Knight and his wife Penny; daughter, Becki Gerard and her husband Perry; granddaughter, Alyssa Knight; grandson, Christopher Knight; goddaughter, Lisa Klockenga; and brother Manning Williams and his wife Barbara. Her life will be celebrated privately by family and close friends at a later date. Cards will be gladly accepted at: PO Box 607, Folly Beach, SC 29439. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lutheran Hospice, 900 Johnnie Dodds Blvd., Suite 200, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL. Randy,

I was sorry to read of Louise's passing. It was always a pleasure to be around her not only because she was such a nice and considerate person but she was always a very down to earth person.

I would see Louise (and sometimes you) at the grocery store and for those few moments, she would give me flashbacks of our high school years. Such a wonderful person. Our prayers are with you and your family at this time.

Our Deepest Sympathy,

Frank and Jozhan Atkinson

Randy. Becki, and family, our sorrow is hard to put into words. Lou was a dear sweet person. Knowing her was one of God's gifts to us and knowing she is in Heaven is God's gift to all of us. She has now traveled a road we all must one day travel and we know we shall all be together in the coming-soon hereafter. Lou, we loved you.
