Dorothy Fesperman Obituary

Dorothy Faye Fesperman CHARLESTON - Dorothy Fayne Fesperman, 87, of Charleston, SC, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 4, 2025, surrounded by her immediate family. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her loving husband, Willie C. Fesperman (Bill), who adored his "sweetheart" for 67 years of marriage. She was preceded in death by Pauline Adams Inman (mother), Grover Inman (father), Sylvia Shelton (sister) and Franklin D. Fesperman (son). Her legacy lives on through her daughters, Yvonne Jimeson and Elizabeth Fesperman, granddaughters, Crystal Fesperman, Morgan (Karl) Ristow and great-granddaughters, Emma Ristow and Amelia Ristow. And the countless lives she touched. Born on November 28, 1937, she attended school in Pinnacle, N.C. After graduating she moved to Winston-Salem, NC to work at the Hanes factory, that's where fate would intercede, and she met the love of her life, Willie Fesperman (Bill). After a year of courting, they wed in July 1957. They left the mountains of NC and moved to Charleston, SC in 1960. Eventually, they found their forever home on James Island, SC and together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and strong faith. She worked for Atlantic Coast Life Insurance for several years and in 1969 moved her career to MUSC Payroll department until she retired December 31, 2000. Dorothy Fayne Fesperman was known for her kindness, compassion for others, generosity, unwavering support, her big heart and mostly for making people laugh. She enjoyed gardening and she loved to preserve her labor by freezing and canning goods for her family and friends. She enjoyed camping with her family over the years and after retirement she enjoyed traveling the United States with her loving husband and going on cruises with their friends. During her middle and later years, she performed as country legend and comedian Minnie Pearl at the Elks Lodge, where she was a DOE life member. She also performed at various assisted living facilities, churches, and family events. She really knew how to get a crowd laughing and she loved to see people happy. She was truly genuine and will be remembered by all who knew her. The family will celebrate her life with a Memorial Service Sunday, May 4, 2025 @ 2PM at the Elks Lodge, 1113 Sam Rittenberg Blvd, Charleston, SC 29407. A private funeral service with family will be held in NC later.

Fain was wonderful! I would always leave the payroll office laughing because of the great jokes she always told and her impersonations. She was a constant joy and brought light to the whole department of nursing.
