Dorothy Eason Obituary

Dorothy Eason CHARLESTON - Dorothy Irene Saul Eason, 89, widow of Herbert Clarence Eason, Jr., entered into eternal rest Monday, March 19, 2012 after an extended illness. Dorothy was born on July 12, 1922 in Newburgh, NY, the daughter of the late Cecil L Saul and Major Leslie Thomas Saul. A graduate of College of Charleston, she was a homemaker and volunteer for numerous civic organizations and the United Methodist Church. Civic involvement included the being a charter member of the Metropolitan Civitan Club and a lifetime member of the West Ashley Civitan club along with many other charitable organizations. She was very proud of her involvement with the Rural Mission Board on John's Island. She was an active member and held many leadership positions with St. Mark United Methodist Church. She also maintained district and state leadership positions with the South Carolina United Methodist Church. Survivors include her son, Herbert C Eason III, his wife, Marla, of Duluth, Ga. her daughter, Nancy E Jonesand her husband, Edward, of Holley, NY, her sister, Nancy S. Lynn of Charleston SC; grandchildren, Robert Littlejohn of North Augusta, GA, Edward Jones of Holley, NY, Rebecca Jones of Brockport, NY, Amy Jones of Rochester, NY, Ashley Eason of Atlanta, GA and Matthew Eason of Duluth, GA. Great-grandchildren - Darien West, Robert Clayton Littlejohn and Abigail Littlejohn. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 22, 2012, between 5:00PM and 7:00PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. Burial will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, March 23, 2012, at Holy Cross Cemetery. Her Memorial Service will be at 12:00 Noon, Friday March 23, 2012, at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 413 Geddes Ave. Her guestbook may be signed at www.jamesamcalister.com.
