Dorothy Connelly Obituary

CONNELLY, Dorothy Dorothy Louise Ammons Connelly, 68, widow of James Bruce Connelly, of Sullivan's Island, SC, died September 9, 2008 at a local hospital. Mrs. Connelly was born December 11, 1939 in Springbranch, SC the daughter of Butch and Blanche McDaniel Ammons. Mrs. Connelly was the beloved wife of the late James B. Connelly for 50 years; she was the love of his life. Mrs. Connelly had a generous heart, a wonderful sense of humor, and cared deeply for her family, grandchildren, great-grandchild, friends and long-time staff. She was deeply loved by all, and her loss to all is profound. A wonderful woman with beautiful, smiling eyes, she was an RN and spent over 40 years in the healthcare industry. The Founder of Carolina Hospice Care, she was active in the SC Nursing Home Association. Mrs. Connelly will be deeply missed by her children, Jay Lynn Connelly Dunning and her husband Philip of Mt. Pleasant, Donna Ray Connelly Cash and her husband Dennis of Charleston, James B. Connelly, Jr. of Charleston and Brian Carroll Connelly and his wife Amy of Edmond, OK. She was a loving grandmother to ten grandchildren, Dorothy Louise C. Thorne, Bailey R. Thorne, C. Hunter Thorne, Savannah G. Cash, Harper M. Cash, Hayley A. Cash, Aiko Connelly, Jamie C. Connelly, Jordan B. Connelly and Brian Alexander Connelly; and great-grandchild, Roland Sonny Weir. There will be a funeral service 1PM, Thursday, September 11, 2008 at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, PO Box 4486, Houston, TX 77210-4486. Arrangements by MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, MT. I am so sorry to hear about Mrs. Connellly's passing---I know she is at peace and happy now being with the love of her life--Mr. Connelly.
She will always hold a special and dear place in my heart. I could never begin to thank her for all she did for me. I am a much better person because she was a part of my life. Know you are in my thoughts and prayers. She is deeply missed.
