Dorothy Clapper Obituary

Dorothy Clapper SUMMERVILLE - Dorothy Clapper, 92, widow of William Lee Clapper Sr., residence Summerville, SC entered into eternal rest on Monday November 26, 2012. The relatives and friends of Mrs. Dorothy Clapper are invited to attend her funeral services on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at ten o'clock a.m. at The Presbyterian Home, 201 West 9th North Street, Summerville, SC 29483. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park at one o'clock p.m. Dorothy was born June 27, 1920 in Birmingham, AL to the late Shirley Byrd Looney and Janie Perkins Looney. She was a graduate of Jefferson High school in Alabama. She was enjoyed and always won playing cards, Bridge, Canasta and Bingo and she loved going to all the local beaches, IOP, Sullivans Island, Edisto and Folly Beach with her parents. She also loved her sweets, especially when no one was looking and going camping in the great Smokey Mountains. Her fondest memories are of she and her husband dancing whenever and wherever they could. She liked to tell stories with her family including a favorite about Looney's Tavern in Alabama where a play remembers they seceded from both the North and the South! Dorothy had worked for over 15 years as a sewing line operator at the Domino Sugar company. She is survived by her son: William L. Clapper Jr. and his wife Carol of Lake Havasu City, AZ, two granddaughters: Alissa Britain of Riverside, CA and Michelle McGory and her husband Bill of Henderson, NV, 6 great-grandchildren: Connor Britain, Sam Britain and Delaney Britain and Hunter McGory, Tyler McGory and Tanner McGory. She was preceded in death by her brother: Jack Looney and a sister: Winkie Looney. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: The Village at Summerville, 201 West 9th North St., Summerville, SC 29483. Arrangements are provided by CAROLINA MEMORIAL PARK, FUNERALS and CREMATIONS, 7113 Rivers Ave., N. Charleston, SC, 294069 (843-797-2222).
