Doris Fair Obituary

Doris Houser Hane Fair ST. MATTHEWS, SC - Doris Houser Hane Fair, 81, 106 Dantzler St., St. Matthews, died Sunday, November 21st at her residence. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday November 24th at St Paul United Methodist Church with Rev. Patricia P. Mayfield and Rev. John W. Hipp officiating. Burial will follow at the Houser - Banks Family Cemetery. Family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home. Mrs. Fair was born in Charleston, a daughter of the late John Keitt Hane and Doris Rainey Hane. She attended the College of Charleston and graduated from Palmer Business School. Mrs. Fair was a retired office manager with Dr. F.R. Huff for over 25 years. She was raised on the grounds of Yeamans Hall Country Club in Charleston where she developed love for camellias. Mrs. Fair was a member of the D.A.R., Board of Trustees for the Regional Medical Center for over 15 years and a 1962 Calhoun Country Club Ladies Champion. Mrs. Fair was instrumental in getting her two tables of Bridge to found the St. Matthews Coterie Dance Club. She was an active member of St. Paul UMC, where she formerly served as a secretary, was the member of the Choir and the Alter Guild. Survivors include her husband, Julian Harrison Fair, Jr., of the home, two sons, Dr. Julian Harrison Fair III, and wife Sherry of Wagener and Keitt Hane Fair and wife Harvin, Columbia; two grandchildren, Rainey Fair Chadwell and husband Brandon of Spartanburg and Banks Harrison Fair and wife Mardi of Gilbert; one brother, John Keitt Hane, III, Sullivan's Island and a number of nieces and nephews. Memorial may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1808 Bridge St., St. Matthews, SC 29135 or to a charity of one's choice. Miss Doris will most be remembered for bringing smiles to those she greeted.
