Doris Epps Obituary

EPPS, Doris Doris "Curly" Kizner Epps, 81, wife of the late Walter "Bill" Epps, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2009. The relatives and friends of Doris Epps are invited to attend her funeral service at the graveside on Monday, March 30, 2009, in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens at 6:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at J HENRY STUHR, MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL on Sunday, March 29, 2009 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. "Curly" was born on January 29, 1928 in the Bronx, New York, daughter of the late Samuel Kizner and Ida Brown Kizner. She retired as a bookkeeper for Henry Schachte and Sons Insurance Company and also for the Salvation Army. She was President of the Mt. Pleasant Senior Citizens Group and a member of the Insurance Women of Charleston. She loved life and loved to travel but her first love was for her great grandchildren, her grandchildren and her children. She is survived by her daughters, Ellen M. Epps and Stacy P. Epps, both of Mt. Pleasant, SC; a son, Scott W. Epps and his wife, Nina, of Wadmalaw Island, SC and Tom Dawson and his wife, Ann, of Goose Creek, SC; six grandchildren, Chris Dawson and his wife, Erica, Kim Ladigo and her husband, Chip, Kelly Boyd and her husband, Trey, Kevin Dawson, Teddy Finnerty and Jacqueline Killory; and seven great grandchildren, Chloe, Seth, Leah, Reese, Ella, Gracin and Lily Claire. She was preceded in death by her sister, Frances Truere and a granddaughter, Charity. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Almost Home Feline Refuge, 283 Sandpiper Drive, Mt. I didn't know your mother, but I knew your dad. I didn't realize he died. I am so sorry you've now lost both of them.

Your dad worked at Gimm Finance so many years ago. I was in high school. He was always taking his antacid pills, laughing, and teasing me. Those are sweet memories.

Later, he was at the Sand Dollar Restaurant...I'm not sure in what capacity...I believe he was managing it...and I saw him there.

Oh, how you have been blessed with these parents.
